I just got home and had to share this wth you all. I got a call late yesterday asking if I would drive some of the campaign people from the airport to the Compassion Forum event tonight and then back to the airport. Of course, I accepted, so we met at the airport and went over to Messiah in the motorcade. We didn't get to go in the actual gym to watch it, but they had a room for the Hillary volunteers, so we got to watch on a screen. After she spoke, the volunteers got to meet her and her photographer took pictures of us with her.
She looked wonderful, and I thought she spoke wonderfully as usual. It was just really neat to actually meet her and I still can't believe I got the chance.
Anyhow, I just got back, so haven't seen the big fat liars portion yet, we only watched Hillary in the room they had us in. I've been gone for this most of the day, so missed what was flying back and forth all day between the 2 campaigns, but was hearing snippets. I better go read the threads and catch up.

well apparently she should have gone second this time.. he got standing o's both at entrance and at exit and even gave autographs...wooooooo i'm soooo thrilled.
Wow, good for you. And great that you volunteered to help drive people to/from the airport. There is plenty of commentary on the "compassion forum" in another thread for you to enjoy (or spew over).

OK--now I understand all the furious Blackberrying about Annie Oakley. I was like what the heck is this Annie Oakley thing? I now get it. Good God, he just dug his hole deeper.

I heard most of his remarks, but didn't stay tuned for the last question, so missed seeing his exit. However, I wouldn't put too much into this. As for his entrance, he was reaching out a hand as though he expected people along the aisle to shake hands (good ole political tactic), so some did, whether out of enthusiasm or to be polite, who knows? .... And this prolonged his entrance, so again who knows if people standing and clapping until he reached the platform was that they were thrilled to see him or just being polite. .... But about the exit, since she left as he was getting ready to be seated this took away the standing o I'm sure she would have received. However, there was no question who was more inspiring. Hillary by a mile!!

ActionJackson--going through the PA Turnpike toll booths without having to pay was a definite first for me. Instead of a big EZPass sign in the lane we went through, it said "Lane Closed".
I will say, though, that they drive too fast, and I was having a little trouble keeping up! The state trooper that was behind me had a good laugh. He thought I was worried that I was going to be pulled over, and I was like, no, the rental car they gave me is having trouble getting over 80 mph! And it was! They very politely drove slower on the return trip.
But, yeah, meeting her was really just cool. Definitely not something I ever thought I'd get to do. I still can't believe it.
I just hope that picture turned out well - I'm not very photogenic, and I'd hate to have to crop myself out of it!

SunnyinCal--I heard the campaign people saying he had people listening to the questions that she was asked so they could get him a response in case he got the same one. Typical.
She still sounded so much more intelligent than him. The man is a dead bore. I'm listening to it now.

I just hope the photos get to the guy who was coordinating it, who took my e-mail so he could send them to me. It was all so chaotic and for me, totally last minute and totally lucky!

Hey Sandy, I am glad for you that you were able to get to meet her and have a nice momento (pix) of the event. When I saw her, I was surprised at how short she was. I had just thought she would be taller. I would say she is about 5'3". Does anyone know? Such a powerhouse in that little package!

Wyoming Dem - I had to leave my arsenal at home, but not my tabackie!!!
Ms. Bluegrass--I was struck by the same thing. I'm 5"4 and she was a good bit shorter than me.
Ohio Mom--it was a pseudo deabte on CNN last night here in PA with Hillary and Bitter Barry.

Freethinker--here's a detail I thought was interesting (I got to listen to some neat conversations). Apparently, when BO had his rally at the Forum in Harrisburg recently, he bused people in from Philadelphia to attend. Now, mind you, his campaign office in Harrisburg announced they would be giving out a certain number of tickets to the rally, and people waited hours in line to get one and people were turned away. Well, they were turned away because they had to leave room for the busloads coming in from Philly.
And another - his private jet pulled in to the airport a little bit after Hill's. His plane was almost twice the size of hers, and it was not full. Neither was the bus he had waiting. That was only half full. Talk about a waste of fuel. So, all those suckers that donate to his campaign-that's where the $ goes.
The other thing I kept hearing was Annie Oakley and I had no idea what they were talking about, and was starting to think it was some kind of inside joke - till I got home....

I too was struck by how tiny she is in person! I am 5'2 on a big hair day and she was smaller than me. I also noticed that she looks so much younger in person and is truly beautiful! Not that it should matter, I wouldn't care if she was as ugly as a mud fence,I'd still back her 100%! How lucky you were to actually meet her! I got to meet Bill when he was here and that was one of the top highlights of my life, for sure!
