My husband, an Obama supporter, says there are only two things that Hillary Clinton could say that would cause him to vote for her:

1) "I promise to hold the Bush administration accountable for the Iraq war debacle - primarily the manipulation of information provided to congress and the American people with the purpose of misleading us into war."

2) "I promise to bring transparency and information to the American people and I pledge my personal accountability to them."

We can't move to the future without learning from the past. We need both.

Obama's stand on Iraq is "I told you so". Sorry - doesn't cut it. Doesn't prevent the manipulation and/or withholding of information in the future.

Actually, she has said she is going to stand up to all of them regarding the war.

What's really strange though is the way Obama has been able to spin that war vote thing. I'm glad you brought this up. I'm going to go find that document now which has ALL the caveats she put on her vote. She was right, he DID abuse his power. She did not vote without a lot of reservations and caveats attached to her vote. I've read that document and she was pretty strong with him about it. He basically lied and did abuse his power.

You're right Rafree, I'm going to look for the footage of her speaking before casting her vote. It showed clear reservations on her part, a serious warning to the Bush Administration and she stated emphatically that this power should not be abused and force should be used only as a last resort.

"I promise to bring transparency and information to the American people and I pledge my personal accountability to them."

Hillary has essentally said this on many occasions, most recently while campaigning in Ohio. You could try reviewing her speeches on that.

For further information on her plans for government reform, go to her website: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/reform/

I think Hillary has more male voters than people think. She won NJ with votes from my father and brother (mother too), which made me very proud.

These are not ALL of her many, many conditions she put on her "vote" that Obama wasn't there for, and that she DID put many, many caveats on. I think it's low and disgusting that he attacks her on this when he knows he wasn't even in the senate to vote and he knows he said "I don't know how I would have voted if I had to make that decision at that time." and "I'm pretty much on the same page as George Bush" with regard to the war. The thing was she was told they were going in to see if there were WMD, and that GWB was NOT going to attack unilaterially at ALL. She was the senator representing New York!! And at that time you can bet if she had voted against this without reservation then her constiuents would have been all over that. THEY wanted justice and action!! Also, if you have read the document and her comments attached to her vote she threw every single stop gap in with her vote she could. Here is just portion of what she said. Obama KNOWS this yet he questions her "vote" when he is sitting there with no record, is lying by omission and he knows that she was THERE on 9/11. I think it shows a dispicable side of Obama, and it really turns me off ever voting for him.

In Senator Clinton's own words concerning this resolution:

" My vote is not, however, a vote for any new doctrine of pre-emption, or for uni-lateralism, or for the arrogance of American power or purpose -- all of which carry grave dangers for our nation, for the rule of international law and for the peace and security of people throughout the world. "
"A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort. "

I have maintained that Senator's Clinton and Schumer, who represent the citizens of New York voted in accordance with the majority of their constituents.

In Senator Clinton's words:

"And finally, on another personal note, I come to this decision from the perspective of a Senator from New York who has seen all too closely the consequences of last year's terrible attacks on our nation. In balancing the risks of action versus inaction, I think New Yorkers who have gone through the fires of hell may be more attuned to the risk of not acting " .

Rafree - thanks for those qualifications.

Let's face it, Obama has ZERO foreign policy experience. That's right, ZERO. And the one committe he led in the past year had ZERO meetings. As such, he has had to stoop extraodinarily low and re-cast himself as the "no war" hero! It's a complete fiasco. The man was not in the US Senate and had NOTHING to do with the entire process surrounding the decision to go into Iraq. Once again we see a person (Obama) who is willing to go to any lengths to score votes. His "opposition" to the war is yet another piece of Obama propaganda! What's he been doing about it the last 3 years? Where has the real opposition been? His willingess to try and "crucify" Hillary ove this issue has been shameless, calculating, arrogant and foolish. Hopefully, in due course, more people will realize this.

By the way, I was against the Iraq War as well and marched against it. I don't look to Obama to represent my opposition because he is a political opportunist that is interested in one thing and one thing only - the elevation of his own political status through whatever means. Hillary has my complete confidence on this matter and I trust that she will go about exiting Iraq in the safest and most logical way possible. And her willingess to reflect on the past and acknowledge she may have voted differently if she knew then what she knows now is the sign of a true leader. Obama wishes he had such humility and courage.

I too worked against the war! But I know all the FACTS about Senator Clinton's vote and I know GWB BETRAYED her and that she should not be crucified for that. She did what the people of New York would want her to do WHILE continuing to put caveats that would protect us all from all out war. GWB, over stepped his powers and abused them.

And Obama has exploited this when he knows better. I challenge anyone to walk the streets in NYC and talk to police officers, fire fighters and people from the Port Authority and see what they have to say!! Every ONE of them knows what she had to do and that she did not unilaterally agree with GWB. It's common sense.

I believe she WILL end the war in Iraq and do it with compassion for everyone including those suffering in Iraq now. I cannot in good conscience vote Obama when he doesn't have a clear and concise detailed plan the way she does.

Her plan to withdraw is far more detailed!

Did she specifically say any of this during any of the debates? (We watched many but not all of them.)

Yes she did during the first debate and they basically ignored her comment!

Probably didn't sit well with their agenda!
