I got a 404 error earlier and now there is no "Start a blog" in the action center on Hillary's site???

aye, something went kablooey about a half hour ago. All the Connect/Blogs & Groups aren't working, and you can't get to them from the main page either, those links are gone that pointed to them.

Maybe they're rebuilding the database or something. I sure hope it's up soon. Can't believe this happened on the eve of Super Tuesday II. Folks need one another now, and many people over there may not know about this website yet.

aargh!

RAFREE

I think this is VERY suspicious!!

I hope the data base is backed up. hmmmm. This is bizarre because normally on a site like that they would say they were doing maintenance if that were the case. If it's a hack then there would be no notice.

Something is rotten here. They wouldn't take that link down???

RAFREE
03-03-2008, 04:50 PM
The girl I spoke with knew nothing about it. They need a telephone number for the TECHS.

I know this. I administer a large official website, if we are doing maintenance we always have a message up there so people will know it.

Also, there would be NO NEED for them to remove that "Hillary Speaks For Me" button off the main page if they were doing maintenance on the blog section of the site.

I am going to look for a tech number now.

RAFREE

There is NO way that "Hillary Speaks For Me" button would be purposely removed. They sister site was thrilled to have been added on to her front page so they would not have asked to be taken off at all.

So I believe we have been hacked! ALL the blogs gone, and the blog button and the sister site too?? All the things that allow people to converse and to promote Hillary are gone???

This is not sounding good. Thanks for checking on this for us.

You know, as this election continues and Hillary Wins The Nomination -- we need for them to either set-up an official IPB Board, or at least link to this one from the main page.

The Blog type of atmosphere just wasn't enough. We need to communicate in real-time, not get lost in the shuffle of speaking over one another in a rush to be on the Recent list for a few minutes. That just wasn't working.

Forums are much better at communicating. An IPB Board license only costs around $100, and they can skin the background to look just like her main page. Sure hope they think about this. The internet is a powerful tool they need to focus on a little bit more (my opinion).

I hate to be a pessimist...but look what the lack of moderation led to.

ETA: I hope they get on it ASAP! It's the eve of a crucial day!

Jayling
03-03-2008, 05:06 PM
aye. Fair-minded folks are needed in an environment like that and this, or else it just spirals down into nastiness.

I hope someone puts a bug in their ear about getting a Board license, skinning it, and getting it out to us.

My guess was that all along they could not spare the people from the campaign to moderate those blogs. There simply wasn't enough people power to do it all.

Mods are volunteers...they relied on automatic filters and reporting, and from the way the reports took so long to get acted on I could tell they just didn't have the people.

The site either could have gone with NO blog section OR go with a skeleton staff to monitor it. They chose to allow the blog section.

It was the best of a iffy situation. Had the Obama trolls not showed up it would have been okay.

The thing is that there would be a way to tell who hacked the site! Just look at the server logs and even if they hid the original ip addresses you can STILL find out where they originated if you know how to do it.

OHHHHH!! Let me IN THERE! I am having a fit to get at that server and catch whoever was last on the site.

The only other logical explanation is that some really, really not very bright person took that button off the front page AND took the blogs down too....that would not bode well for his or her future in IT.

I don't think that's what happened though since the timing is so suspect. And there is no way they would take off that Hillary Speaks For Me button to work on the blog portion of the site right now, the day before the primaries.

Went back to look at an email I got from a group on the website and called the number and then sent an email to Live World who is in charge of the site. I'm posting the number and email so we can all call and write. Someone is supposed "to get back to me" according to their vm.

I agree 100%. The individual blog system and sub-groups is not the most efficient way to bring people together into a collective! I was surprised there wasn't an official forum so I established one myself!

I wonder if the streaming of the Town Hall had anything to do with it?

Maybe they wanted people to focus on the video? Or maybe it was a web traffic issue?

Not sure...

RAFREE

Maybe, they might have felt the Town Hall was more important and that the traffic on the blogs would gum things up...still taking down the "Hillary Speaks For Me" link??? Not GOOD!!

EVERY body is scheduling everything in Texas for me to do these two days. So I thought I was imagining things when I could not find my blog--and the groups.

It all redirects to the townhall. Which yes, is important. But it would be interesting to see various Clinton campaign communities promoting it, particularly for people who are from/currently Texas.

I doubt, especially given how the mainstream media typically has been handling this campaign, that they would even cover the town hall.

I read on Facebook that it was also streamed on CNN's website. Anyone see it there? CNN owes Hillary a lot of favors (after their very BAD behavior in recent weeks) so maybe they did stream it...

You know, I submitted numerous comments to BlogHillary, and not one single one ever showed up. It was very frustrating, so that's why I went searching for another place and was very glad to find this forum. Like Murray, I was surprised there was no official Hillary forum -- it's such a better format for discussion and exchanging information. Well, anyway, Murray, thanks again for establishing this one!

No Robin, I don't trust them, they will truncate the comments tomorrow and spin it negative! Not one single really great moment will make the news. He's had PLENTY of "shine" moments and she's had exactly ZERO that they could help it with. EVEN her closing comment during the debate that was so good, they spun negative.

I'm not holding my breathe with C.N.N....it will be to late after tomorrow if they don't vet obama TODAY.

Well, so many complaints have been made to CNN about their warped coverage that maybe commercial concerns are finally getting the better of them! Viewers = dollars. Less viewers = less dollars. They don't have a conscience, but they do have commercial needs so we must take advantage of those! It has most certainly harmed them to be so negative towards Clinton and so lovey-dovey with Obama.

They seem to show up some time after being posted. I realize they are moderated but the order in which comments show up, I don't really understand. I like instant gratification - I don't like waiting for comments to be approved as it thwarts discussion! Blogs and comment features are good for attracting broad opinion about a topic, but they aren't the best way to engage in discussion with others. So here we are for the latter! :)

I talked to Mark Williams today over at live world, and he said that the campaign had made the decision not to moderate the site continually (it probably cost more money) and that is why we had all of the trolls.

One of us e-mailed Mark their ignore list, he e-mailed me back and was concerned b/c there were so many trolls, and he couldn't tell who was a real troll and who was a Hillary supporter b/c of the names, and he couldn't get rid of all everyone on the list just b/c of the list.

Next thing you, the site was down. Mark said that he thinks they are doing maintainence on the site. My guess is that Liveworld and the campaign freaked out when they saw the amount of abuse going on by the trolls in the blog, and didn't have a choice but to shut it down. I'll e-mail Mark tomorrow to see if he knows when it is going back up. It was getting out of control and they need to implent rules and regulations for the blog site.

I blogged on Obama's site on Sunday, and I was kicked on in 5 minutes flat. That is what we need.

Carla.
