I'm just curious, so if you don't mind, please take one moment out of your usual activism to answer this question.
BTW, I'm not referring to the general election between Kerry and Bush; I'm curious to know who you supported before Kerry got the nomination....when all of the candidates were still around.
Thanks!

I'll go ahead and answer my own question to get things started.... I supported Kerry from the get-go.

Edwards. Then when he didn't make it, I didn't vote in the GE. I couldn't stand either of the candidates.

In the primaries, I didn't really care but I kinda leaned towards Dean.
In the general, I supported, campaigned, and rallied for Kerry but ONLY because Edwards was running with him. After Kerry's endorsement of BO, I realized the reason why I never trusted him.

I was torn between Dean (I wanted that change) and Clark (I liked him and wanted his military experience).
I am proud to say I never wanted Kerry. I left the dem party when they chose him and wrote in someone else on my general election ballot.

John Edwards supporter here. I voted for the Kerry/Edwards ticket, but I really believe that the Dems. had the weaker candidate on the top of that ticket. I think an Edwards/Kerry ticket would have been a winner.... no swiftboating drama.
Same reason an Obama/Clinton ticket won't work. You can't have the weaker candidate, open to Republican smears, on the top of the ticket. Why can't the DNC learn that lesson?

I hate to admit it but this is the first election in which I voted in the Primaries. I did vote for Kerry in the GE even though I didn't like him because I really didn't want Bush in there. But now that I know even more about Kerry we probably would have been worse off.

really wanted HRC but it was too soon for her to run so glad she was going to be a Senator and felt she did it all right -previously voted for Gore... that whole fiasco was sickening... I can not believe FL is in this mess again and it is the Republicans fault because they moved their primary?

I thought Edwards was a real winner for the dems that election. For the last 4 yrs I have had to live with the fact that I voted for Bush. My husband voted Kerry so I figured it really didn't matter. Never ever ever liked Kerry.

i was politically apathetic at that time...I was politically apathetic this time around as well. However, after I came home from my vacation in Mexico (climbing the pyramids) in January of 2008, I started watching the news and realized how incredibly bias and sexist it was. Then I was for either Barack, Edwards, or Hillary. Now I'm for Hillary. I wouldn't mind edwards tho.

Kerry/Edwards
Campaigned with them in NM and a few other states. Both were impressive in person actually, but Edwards much more so.
Now I can't stand Kerry since he wimped out and went with Obama.

I voted for Kucinich in the 2004 primary because he was anti-war and the only one who was pro universal health care at the time.

Precisely, this choice and this reason.
He did not handle the swiftboat well.
I'm beginning to loathe him.. he has turned out to be another of those bitter ones.. clinging to latte may be?

By the time the primary got here to Fla. it was wrapped up. I didn't really have a preference...anybody but Bush was the battle cry around here.
Edwards!
Edwards!
Edwards!
Couldn't stand Kerry, even though I tried very hard. Nonetheless, I held my nose and voted for him. So did my mom. We had the same take on the whole thing. She was so anxious to be able to vote for Hillary, but alas, she died in 2006. Her last presidential vote...sigh...

Edwards.....and then to be totally honest...no one. I was completely disillusioned and again I was stuck with a choice between two non-viable candidates. I couldn't even bring myself to leave the house to vote in the general I thought the two candidates were that bad - based on how things turned out I wish I'd gone and held my nose for Kerry (not that that would have made a difference in CA).
This time I will make a choice.......Clinton.

I worked my ass off for Kerry from way before the primaries started. I really liked him and thought he had the experience needed out of all the candidates. I don't look at personality - just resumes - and his was stacked. Yes, he's disappointing now, but I don't think I would have changed my vote given the choices. I NEVER liked Edwards! I thought he did a horrible job debating Cheney, and, like Obama, I thought he did not have enough experience at the time. I still don't! Don't get what he's done to attract people. Sorry folks, I'm all about experience! That's why Hillary rocks!

Welcome to the wild, wacky world of democracy in action! Glad you're an astute observer and was motivated to get involved!!
(I hope you enjoyed your vacation! ALL of Hillary's supporters are such interesting, intelligent, creative, diligent, really good people! I'm grateful to know you all!)

I really didn't pay attention... I was still suffering from depression, a result of Al Gore being robbed in 2000. I held out hope Al would jump in there to run again and save the day...I voted for Kerry but I was in the mindset "anyone but Bush". I didn't like Kerry, he could have been a serial killer and I would have liked him more, but since his utter devotion to Senator Obama this year has made me ashamed I ever voted for him.
I didn't understand the Howard Dean "WOOOO" thing ruining his campaign but then again I didn't see the big deal with Gary Hart in 1988 either.

I don't think I voted in the primary that year. I do remember liking Dean at the time, even though I am embarrased to admit it now. I did go with Kerry in the GE. One person who I liked in the past was Paul Tsongas. I believe that was 1988 and I do remember voting for him in the primaries.

Primary, I was for Edwards but I think by the time it got around to CA Kerry was already the nominee... which was par for the course then. We never had a say in the primaries.
I thought the Dems got the wrong candidate at the top of the ticket but I voted for Kerry because I could never vote for Bush who stole the presidency from Gore.
This time, the DNC cannot count on me to be a good little sheep and follow their lead.

I wanted Gore to come and win back what had been stolen.
But when Kerry announced, I was supporting him.
Having worked that year both as the College Democrats 'disabilities caucus' chair and an online 'e-campaign' webring, I later was offended that he decided to back Obama. He and HRC's records are the ones who are SIMMILAR.

For me the Supreme Court was primary, so I voted Dems across the board. Now in this Election it's a totally different story because the Country comes before my worry about any new Justices, so if it's not Hillary then it's McCain for me.
