View Full Version : I've just made a painful decision... (about today's rally)

...no, I haven't gone over to the dark side!

I had planned on--and really looked forward to--going to the Hillary rally today in Studio City...but I just can't do it. My rheumatologist changed my medication when I saw her earlier this week, and--unfortunately--there's some lag time before the new one starts working. I'm in SO MUCH pain right now, I can barely stand up, and there's just no way I can stand around at an outdoor rally [with nowhere to sit] for any length of time. So, with a lot of regret, I've decided not to go. :(

SoCal4Hillary, it's okay if you can't go. The important thing is that you get better. There will be other rallies.

I am so sorry. However have you ever seen those walking canes/sticks that turn into seats? Even golf sticks that turn into high seats for resting while waiting for that slow group ahead.... :D Check them out even if it is too much for you to go this time it might be a thought for any other event you want to go to where you would have to stand for a length of time uncomfortable. Check out your local golfing/sports store.

Feel better soon and take good care of yourself!

The fact that you're in so much pain and want to be out there for Hillary just makes me want to work harder to get her elected!!

HILLARY '08!

Hey, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and understand both your pain of not being able to attend the rally and the pain of such a disease. I worked the best I could for Hillary in Texas, but was unable to attend her rallies for the same reason. There was no way I could stand for any length of time. I also was unable to caucus--but I voted in the primary and spent my time doing the things I could do. In the end, I found more productive ways to help Hillary. Hang in there. We will all celebrate when we elect HRC.

SoCal, I have systemic Lupus so I, more than many others understand your pain. It's a hard fact that there are just going to be days when we can't do what we want to do. So sorry for the dissappointment. I was unable to see Hillary when she was in Wyoming and I will regret it the rest of my life.

Hang tough and get stabilized. You and I both know that stress is an immune system killer. I really am sorry you must miss this.

Thanks so much, everybody. :) I kept delaying and delaying the decision, hoping that--somehow!--I would be able to pull it off, but finally accepted that I just couldn't.

Annie, yes I've seen those cane/seat thingies before, but never thought about getting one for myself. Now...I think I'll look into it! That would be perfect for events like these.

I hope your new meds work better for you and am sorry you can't go. When Hillerys elected we'll have better health care and people won't have to suffer so much.

SoCal, don't be sorry, you do soooo much for Hillary already and she is certainly in your thoughts and prayers today. Your health is more important right now, as you need to be strong to campaign for her in November against McCain. Plus, above anyone else, I know Hillary will understand. Feel Better Soon

Get better soon! If you're not too far from Studio City, and aren't in too much pain to drive, you could drive by and honk your heart out! ;)
