I'm just curious about something since television and news media have played such a huge part in this election so far, has anyone else removed television from their life completely? I know it sounds crazy right? But a little over a year ago money was tight around here (still is actually - thanks George Bush) and so it just made since to me to save money cut out a non necessity like cable. At first I missed my Law and Order and CSI (but since the writers strike guess I didn't miss much) but I realized that without the constant infiltration of mass market media that I had a lot more clarity. I go online for local news and weather updates, but as far as all the advertisements and media hullabaloo I pick and choose what I want to look at online and the news articles that I choose to read.

Ok I know this is getting long, but it seems that Obama's largest influx (from what I've read) of supporters are being reeled in through the mass market media. That is why it's so hard for me to see why anyone would vote for him, if they weren't being hypnotized by his soothing voice and smoth lines on television.

CNN TV is OUT.

I still, unfortunately, link to some of the articles on CNN...

I was watching it a lot more until I came across Taylor Marsh' web site (http://www.taylormarsh.com/). The biased sexist pundits on main stream media are horrible to listen to.

I do post to CNN blogs thought ;-) Click on the blogs link at the bottom of cnn.com.

I've boycotted all cable news media. The only time I have them on is on election nights and then I have the sound muted. I just watch the ticker at the bottom of the screen.

I have not only banned CNN, MSNBC and FOX from my TV I have also banned myself from their hateful blogs. I used to blog to defend Hillary but soon realized it was a losing battle. The hatred and vitriol was too much to stand.

I would long ago have cut my cable off but then I would have no internet service.

I like to be informed, so I read the international news on-line and I have to admit that I will watch Fox on occasion. Now that's scary since it has been parentally blocked on my TV for as long as it's been on air and I don't even have any children that don't have 4 legs:) No NBC, MSNBC, CNN, ABC or CBS.

It's crime drama only for the kids and me. They just love to pump up on the sofa and watch all the L & Os, CSIs, Cold Case and Without a Trace. Gotta love syndication!

Agreed. It's bad. And very tiring trying to combat. It gets to the point where it's not constructive. Best to just move on and use the "energy" in a constructive way.

All news channel are banned. I used to have high regard for CNN. Now it's just another "Crap Post" to me.

No news from internet as well. I used to check google news every morning. Not anymore.

I watch news from EURO News now. They only report facts, no opinion, no expert comments. And I love it. It's so refreshing.

I still read Financial Time. The only newspaper that remain neutral during this US primary season.

I have limited myself to abc news & cnn all online. The news media has shown they are not reporting news they are acting like the National Enquirer. Some of the online polls have been so sill...Who should Hillary Listen too? Bill, Herself, blah or blah. Please....... Obama cried he wasn''t getting fair treatment then ABC changed their slant. They promote this sill rhetoric about the damage to the party dragging out the primaries. Excuse me...Isn't there a reason states, like Wyoming, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oregon still get the opportunity to be heard? If it were in the bag, then why isn't there just a national primary. If it goes to the Convention for a vote which I doubt, but if it does there will be no riots in the streets, looting, burning down buildings. Hillary's Big State Plan will work anyway, PA has 187 delegates, vs. Wy's 12 and Ms 30 something (might be wrong) Spend the money where it makes sense. The media needs to report the news not create it.

Except for the debates, I haven't watched foxnews for 5 years, msnbc for 2 years, cnn for 6 months, cbs and nbc for 2 years, and abc for 2 months. The msm is just so full of lies and sexism, it's just disgusting.

I also haven't listened to air america for about 4 or 5 months, since randi rhodes, rachel maddow, and others drank the O'koolaid. I have unsubscribed to my emails from moveon, democracy for america, john kerry, and many progressive groups, with more to come I am sure.

I get my news online by scanning the headlines in various places and depend on taylormarsh.com, Hillary's site, and now here, to get the links to good articles, other blogs, and you tubes, and thank goodness for that, because it was very depressing for quite a while.

Check the BBC, the Times UK and any Canadian ones you can find. Far more objective. Also, the Guardian which is a UK Paper has some good ones on occasion. The BBC website is good about allowing comments and it was the Scotsman that broke the Powers story today.

The only time I watch any news (other than local news) is when the elections are going on. I very rarely look at any news on the Internet unless someone here says it's informative.

I really became a political junkie in January. I fully researched each candidate before I made my decision just as I have taught my children to do. After many hours and many days I seen only one clear appropriate choice and that is Hillary.

When it comes to the news now I get so depressed about all the slanted news. It really gets me down. I use to blog and I really mean BLOG up a storm in Hillary's defense but then that also got depressing because of all the hatred addressed to me. I will still go and blog if someone from here asks me to. But I tend not to read anyone else's blogs.

I am so happy about this web site. I literally spend hours on here everyday. I find it so uplifting. I cannot even begin to express my appreciation for Murray.

All my family and friends are so sick of me constantly talking about what is going on with this race.......well lets just say we don't speak about it anymore. However, I would very happily like to tell you all I do know are voting or have voted for Hillary. I can be pretty persuasive. All though that is not to hard. Hillary has so many many great accomplishments.

I come here because I love reading all the support, the enthusiasm, the love, the true facts, it all actually lifts my day and well into the night. I look forward every morning coming here and seeing what is new and feeling the mojo flowing.

No news for me unless it's the election results. I, like many of you here, have written to the Big News companies telling them how I am no longer a viewer and I no longer trust them.

I keep tuned in nearly 18+ hours a day, to mainly FoxNews (very little CNN), to keep an eye on the 'enemy'. It can be hard at times, but I find it important to know what is being spewed out and forced into brains by these Entertainment Reporters as they regurgitate the same negative theme over and over and over again.

Repugnant they are, but I find it important to keep an eye on them.

Funny though, that FoxNews has actually been a bit more balanced than the other networks. Not totally mind you, but better than the others.

I definitely agree with this. I previously LOATHED Fox News, now I am "tolerant" because at least they have shown some (a little is better than zero) respect for Hillary Clinton and provided some balance in being willing to critique Obama.

As for CNN, my laothing for that station seems only to intensify as the campaign progresses. I have primarily banned it but occasionally my partner will be watching CNN and I will hear the TRASH being spewed from the screen! I then close the door and put my headphones on & think happy thoughts :)

I did watch and would send emails to the news media asking them to stop trashing Hillary and glorifying Obama.
I occasionally gather the courage to momentarily watch a news show and they are still at it. It is horrific and I have grown tired of sending emails.
I will soon be cancelling my cable TV service.

Absolutely no news viewing or reading in my home. (This from someone whose husband used to be a vice president and bureau chief of CNN and a producer at CBS).

Don't forget the biased newspaper coverage as well. The poor Chicago reporters keep grinding out Rezko stuff, but the national rags refuse to pick up the story to any extent.

As I wrote in another thread, I'm doing quite well without the disgusting drivel being put out these days.

yes these are far better sites for REAL news. thanks KittyNC!!

Also, hate to admit it but like Jayling I have been also watching Fox, they are actually more Hillary friendly, and balanced.

That CNN with that rogue, and hateful man Jack cafferty is just off my list, and as long as MSNBC keeps Chris mathhews and Keith Olbermann on, I will stay away as well.!!

I thought I was the only person avoiding all the news too. I get sick to my stomach just listening to these people. I avidly watched CNN and MSNBC until about 2 months ago. I'm still not sleeping well. I keep having nightmares about that empty suit actually winning this primary. Does anyone else have this problem? The only thing I read is HillaryHub and the hillaryclinton.com articles. I'm so glad I found this site.

I continue to watch in disgust to inform myself about what "they are saying now" Yes I get upset at times but like to know what the other side (the media, bloggers, etc) are promoting and lying about now. Being informed is a good thing.
I sent Howard Dean a letter in rsponse to his request for money. I indicated the need for him to provide leadership, I expressed the need for Michigan and Florida to have their votes counted....and not in caucuses where Obama supporters have gamed the system by elbowing the middle aged and elderly women aside and closing the doors on them and their representation. I mentioned unethical actions reported in the caucuses so far. (and said a bit more )
I continue to blog even though they refuse to post some of my rebuttals. I will continue to fight for Hillary.

I agree. I have completely cut of CNN and MSNBC. Occasionally will watch FOX but even that is irritating.

I really think its a ratings and demographics game. I think the networks are trying to attract younger viewers as well as capture a greater African American viewer group. It's the only explanation that I can come up with as to why they would totally be in love with such a liar. If you've noticed, the majority of the pundits now are African American or younger (or both!). There are only a few reporters that I don't mind who seem to be reporting factually and fairly.

Sherry, yes I have that problem. I abruptly roused myself from daydreaming one recent morning after my mind wandered to the reality that that unprepared, arrogant, overage adolescent could actually become commander-in-chief. A horribly frightening thought.

I do fast checks in the mornings on my cell phone:

CNN Poltics
Google News

Hillary Hub
Delegate Hub
Facts Check
Press Releases

But, when I do a Google News on my cell phone, there are options on the bottom:

Obama in the news...

but of course, never Hillary Clinton in the news. I have to type in her name.

Boycotted most of TV. Past weekend, did not switch on TV which was doubly for Earth Day.

Watching very select 1 or 2 shows max per day for the past month.
News is coming from the web. I do visit the media sites, all newspapers, magazines. That is quite enough to get the spin.

I agree with you. I too continue, from time to time, not as much though, to watch CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC but have refused and constrained myself from watching MSNBC, I simply despise them, they are disgusting and do not deserve to be called journalists. Others in the same league are James Cafferty, Carl Bernstein (who forgets who is putting food in his table "Hillary biographer" he calls himself, huge fat, hypocrit, ALL MSNBC staff, Most of Air AMerica starting with the morbidly obese Ed Schultz that loves to go to all channels to spill his pig macho insecurities.
So, I also like you, blog and defend my lady. I believe so passionately in her that it hurts. It hurts me when they denigrate her, they insult her, they belittle her. I like some of you on this site find great comfort in coming here. My husband is about to divorce me (probably not) because I spend so much of my energy in blogging, discussing, informing, calling and DONATING!
As a professional in the health field I firmly believe that no other candidate will bring about Universal Health Insurance to the table with the conviction, the passion and the knowledge that Hillary will. She will bring so much. Obama will spend 4 years trying to feel his way around, learning the ropes, being "nice" to everyone, and accomplishing NOTHING. I question his judgement to lead based on his association and indoctrination for 20 YEARS with his SPIRITUAL ADVISER, A NATIONALIST SEPARATIST RACIST WHO HATES JEWS, WHITES, EUROPEANS, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE......

I went overboard here.....sorry my friends. Thanks for being here, and please do not watch if you don't want or hurts you (as it does to me) but blog, blog, defend her, call, write, and donate.

Look I got rid of my TV after that Bush presidential fiasco. I still say Gore should have been president.

I watch TV at my mother's and pick up clips on the computer.

I try to avoid newspapers that are obviously biased (Obama says, Hillary chastises, McCain derides IE)
And although I listen to NPR they are such obama cheerleaders I do it very carefully.

with Jayling, wathcing FOX because wanting to see what they are saying and at least I am surprised that sometimes they report what is really going on...did think the Pastor Wright thing was going to stay longer (and certainly be more news than Bosnia) will NEVER watch MSNBC or NBC or ABC sometimes have wathced CBS but none lately... mostly on here and then Hillary 's site... I watch the debates of course and the elections I would only check the votes and then turn off before anyone said anything... the ABSOLUTE BEST election night was the last one with TX, OH, RI and VT... there was a crowd of us on hillaryclinton.com and we all "watched" it via talking on the blog... someone would say what the numbers were and then we would just ck it and then respond... did a lot of praying too and it was so great we really are so positive for Hillary and with each other it was the very best and what a joy to be the winners with HIllary... (except VT...hoping they are having voter's remorse now!) hoping we will do this again for PA...and the rest....:D:cool:

I am deeply saddned by the medias bias reporting..I think we know who is running this country without a doubt. :( But on a good note we see that we theMiddle class is fighting back and that gives me the Hope that Hillary will win. I have to believe that.
If she doesnt I think the mental health care in this country will see a surge.

I have the internet, but only keep a tab on what is going on if I am called into prayer or deliverance minsitery for a situation. I will look at the comments, but truth is have been so deeply offended in this election, but it just highlights what has been hidden and brings it out into the light, what has been there all along and needs to go in USA, if there is to be truly freedom there.

I did this not only for my family's health, do so for our faith, yes we are some of those radical born again christians that believes in the narrow way and life, free from the world stuff as much as possible and it makes us feel better, we also found the truth that sets us free in the process.

I hate CNN days back when I was teenager. I hate CNN for always going against the wishes of average people of America which are the back bone of America, I hate CNN for brainwashing poeple for their own selfish interest, I hate CNN for their yellow generalism, I hate CNN for always having double standards and hypocritical, I hate CNN for putting their individual interests ahead of the whole American nation, I hate CNN for actually starting Iraq War, I still remember CNN projecting 24/7 for war in Iraq and now the same CNN vultures are Pro Obama for being against Iraq war, shame on CNN for this double standard, how come they don't even feel shame for a second that what they're doing is against basic core values of America.

CNN is the worst sexist channel in this whole world, they feel no shame in projecting extreme sexist attitude against American women(Hillary is the prime example) and then project that Middle eastern countires and third world countries are sexists, how can CNN prove that issue? while CNN itself is the supreme example of such bias and not only that CNN is playing and being bought by some special interest groups whihc are against Hillary.

Well, I still watch CNN? because I wish to know how far CNN can go? How low CNN can stoop?
In fact if I have to take any idea about anything and need to make my opinion, I always listen to CNN and then do opposite of CNN anhd then conform my opinion exactly opposite of CNN and trust me that opinion is always right.

to watch cable, I have not had TV since 9/11. It does give me a much different perspective on women, and men, as I am not inundated with TV images of the perfect passive female, who is about the size of the stem of my lamp. I watched Hannity today for the first time, and wondered if they picked up their female commentators straight out of pre school, I was like huh? So I'm listening to this woman give analysis and I'm kind of like, and they can't find a more experienced woman to do this? she was entirely oh the Bosnia thing hurt Hillary because it proves she lies. I was HUH? and then went on to extol the virtues of BO, and god I can't even go on, it was too idiotic for words. I thought TV was bad then it is worse now.
